“For the Lamb in the midst of the throne will be their shepherd, and he will guide them to springs of living water, and God will wipe away every tear from their eyes.” (Revelation 7:17)
“For we ourselves were once foolish, disobedient, led astray…but when the goodness and loving kindness of God our Savior appeared, he saved us…so that being justified by his grace we might become heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” (Titus 3:3-7)
The more I grow as a Christian, I see more clearly the depths of my sin in my actions and my heart. Like the sun shining through a window shows all its flaws, the light of God’s Word continues to reveal the many dark motivations of my heart. I have moments of discouragement by my lack of “progress.” But then, I am reminded of all the beautiful promises of heaven and once again, I am in awe of the unfailing goodness and grace of God. I will never understand why God has chosen to save me but I am so very thankful for the wonders of heaven that are awaiting those who trust in Jesus. Randy Alcorn explains it like this: “If we understood God’s nature and ours, we would not be shocked that some people could go to Hell (where else would sinners go?) but that any would be permitted into Heaven.”
Can you imagine living in a world that is perfect? Imagine what is going to be like to walk with God in perfect communion- no trace of shame, guilt and distance that our sin produces! We will be fully satisfied and joyful. What will it be like to never have a worry or fear weigh on our heart? All of our relationships with one another will be perfected. There will be no more conflict, unkind words or actions, selfish motives and deceit. There will be complete peace and harmony. We will never again wrestle with a troubling thought or an unwanted emotion. There will be no more news that breaks our heart. There will be no more suffering and disease, and death will be forever destroyed. We will fully enjoy all the good gifts God has given to us each day. We will love God with all of our heart, mind and strength as we should. God will constantly be glorified.
If you haven’t yet called on the name of the Lord to be saved, I beg you to do so today! Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead so we don’t have to bear the consequences of our sin on our own. We all deserve the horrors and separation sin brings but if you hear God’s voice calling you to repent, seek His forgiveness and trust in Christ alone- do not harden your heart. Jesus loves to forgive sinners; and to show us the wonders of His love and promises.
In the presence of Jesus there is fullness of joy and pleasures forevermore. Truly “no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no human heart has conceived what God has prepared for those who love Him.” (1 Corinthians 2:9) Let your heart be filled with wonder of the love of God. When we were still His enemies, Christ made a way for sinners to be saved and to be able to eternally enjoy the wonders of heaven.
