The Vastness of the Love of God

I’ll never understand the vastness of the love of God

It is complete and full.

It is unchanging and eternal.

Every day I give God many reasons not to love me.

He would have every reason to leave me in my sin and to let me experience the death my sin deserves.

God could demand that I clean myself up before coming to Him;

Or to at least hold me at arms length until I could prove that I wouldn’t fall back into the same patterns of sin again.

The Lord knows though that I am utterly helpless without Him.

Even with His Spirit living inside of me, I often return to the same sins over and over.

I love Jesus but I am so prone to fail Him.

The love of God shines so brightly in my darkness.

God doesn’t want a good outward performance,

Rather He desires a true inward repentance and a heart that is fully dependent on His unfailing grace.

In this world we are often tempted to look to other loves to fill and complete us.

Yet all other loves will eventually let us down.

There is only one true, unending love that can fill and complete us all of our days into eternity.

Out of the riches of His glory, Christ has loved us.

The only requirement for this love is faith in His name.

Then we are given the power to understand more fully just how limitless the dimensions of His love are- they cannot be measured.

God’s love is vast and it is personal.

The more we comprehend it, the more we will be changed.

As we are filled more with the love of God, the more we will be characterized by His love and grace.

I am sure that I will continue to give God many reasons to give up on me.

Yet I am sure that the vastness of His love will always be enough since there will always be more riches of His love and grace to discover!
