We Chase A Lot of Different Things

We chase a lot of different things.

We chase people’s approval, forgetting that we are fully loved and accepted when we are in Christ.

We chase comfort and ease in this life, forgetting just how short this life is and we need to be storing up treasures for the next, eternal life.

We chase the praise of people, forgetting that we are here to proclaim the excellencies of the One who has called us out of the darkness into the glorious light of Jesus.

We chase the feeling of “fitting in’, forgetting that we are called to die to our selfish desires and live for righteousness.

We chase security and safety, forgetting the only firm foundation we can stand upon is Jesus and His Word for all other ground is shifting sand.

We chase many temporary and fleeting pleasures, forgetting that the joy and satisfaction we search for is only ever found in knowing and obeying Jesus.

I’ve chased all these things and more, but I’m coming back to a place where I just want Jesus and to live my life for Him. I pray that we will all one day see that even though we have chased the wrong things of this world, “God loved the world in this way He gave his one and only Son, so that everyone who believes in him will not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. (John 3:16-17)
