Why We Can Have Hope

But this I call to mind,
    and therefore I have hope:

The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases;
    his mercies never come to an end;
they are new every morning;
    great is your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
    “therefore I will hope in him.” (Lamentations 3:21-24)

The truth of these precious verses is the reason we can have hope and joy each morning God allows us to have. Instead of focusing on our troubles and fears, we can focus on the kind of God we can know and serve. We can give our life to the God who has given His own life for us so that we can know His forgiveness and love. We can each bring our burdens to the Lord continually because He remains close to us for He cares for His people. His love will always remain steadfast. Because of all this, may the Lord help us to live each day in a confident trust in His unchanging character. He will meet us each morning with His tender mercy and provision; and it will always be sufficient for each day.

The Lord is good to those who wait for him,
    to the soul who seeks him.
It is good that one should wait quietly
    for the salvation of the Lord. (Lamentations 3:25-26)

We won’t always understand the ways of God and the future may still seem scary, but because the goodness of God is certain, we can patiently wait for Him. We can continue to seek Him through His Word and in prayer in the midst of uncertainty.  We don’t have to waste our days worrying about things that may or may not happen in the future. Instead we can cast all our cares on the Lord knowing whatever comes, good and bad, the love of Jesus will carry us through. He will be our strength when we are weak. The Lord will always be our hope and He will continue to quiet our troubled heart with His love. Therefore may the Lord help us to continually call to mind His great faithfulness and to have hearts that are filled with thankfulness for Jesus.
