About

I can’t take credit for the title of my blog. My best friend came up with it for me and I thought it fit perfectly with my heart behind my writing. Plus it is a nod to my love for cooking!

I love the process of writing: when an idea starts to blossom in my mind and heart, and how it grows as I start to write. Writing often seems like a puzzle to me, fitting different ideas and thoughts together until it makes a complete picture.

As much as I love writing, I know my words and wisdom won’t last or change anyone’s life. My words will always be filled with many imperfections so I want my words to point to the Word that is eternally perfect and complete. The Bible, God’s word to us, is living and active. It pierces through all the distractions of this world into what is most important, the state of our heart before God. It is through hearing His Word, the good news of Jesus Christ, that we are brought to faith through God’s grace. His Word is everything!

If the “crumbs” I offer through my writing can help point others to our Heavenly Father, it is my joy to offer them. So often in the process of writing, my own heart is changed to be more like Him.

We are living in a day when we have lost confidence in the Word of God. Our culture is telling us constantly and increasingly that the Bible is out-dated and not compatible with our modern life. We like to adjust the Bible to fit with our own preferences and desires, instead of adjusting our lives to the unchanging truths of scripture. I pray my writing will help show how the Bible is still relevant and when we build our lives on it, we are blessed in all the ups and downs of life.

The Word of God is truly the only way to defeat sin and Satan in this world. Dwight L Moody says it like this: “The Bible will keep you from sin, or sin will keep you from the Bible.”

I have to confess I struggle with loving and depending on the Word as I should. But God graciously continues to remind me that scripture is the bread of life which truly satisfies and gives life. I’m becoming more convinced that once we’ve tasted the true living Word of God, cheap imitations won’t be enough anymore for they can’t sustain through the different seasons of life.

“I am the bread of life,” Jesus told them. “No one who comes to me will ever be hungry, and no one who believes in me will ever be thirsty again.   -John 6:35
